Hippocampus operates preschool centres in villages with a population of more than 5000 people. The centres operate from rented premises in villages. The teachers are women from the villages who have finished school or college. These women undergo a rigorous selection process and are then given extensive training and support to become good teachers. The centres offer pre-school programs for children between the ages of 3-6 years.
The preschool program is holistic, activity-based and supports differential learning. Critical to the success of these programs is the translation of a complex curriculum and pedagogy into simple, executable micro lesson plans.
Hippocampus has been successful in building a solid foundation in a child’s formative years by providing for a multitude of developmental learning in a stimulating and secured environment. The children are engaged with age-appropriate activity based learning to enhance their sense of curiosity, and preparing them for a smooth transition from pre-school to formal school.
The entire operations of a Hippocampus preschool centre are tech-enabled. Teachers enter all data – from attendance, enrollment, fee collection, student assessment, teacher recruitment, and teacher performance on tablets. The entire operations are managed by using data extensively.
