For a long time now, education or teaching has been the first choice of profession for women in India. Hippocampus Pvt Ltd has started an initiative called ‘Swayam – Har Ghar Vidyalaya’
The key objective of this program is to make the women of our villages self-sufficient and financially independent and in parallel, nurture the future generation of rural India.
We aim to achieve this by supporting the educated women in every village to set up a progressive Early Years study centre for children in their homes. This program is designed for children in the age group of 3-6 years. The program is conducted in small batches to ensure safety and well-being of children at all times. These centres are run by the women of the villages who have obtained necessary training and license from Hippocampus.
The education provided in these centres is holistic, activity-based and supports differentiated learning. The gamut of activities is designed to make learning fun for children keeping their interest and age in mind. Teachers enable children to achieve their individual learning milestones, under friendly supervision. The efforts are aimed at co-constructing knowledge by teachers and children.
Their growth is observed, documented, assessed and recorded. The curriculum draws support from school of thoughts like Reggio Emilia, Multiple intelligences and the evergreen play way methodology. These philosophies act as guiding light, steering towards the mission of making children self-learners.
